On February 27, 2026, WAR 3.0 launched and began aggregating global conflict events. We chose this date as our origin point because it represents the moment when simultaneous, linked multi-theater armed conflicts — Russia-Ukraine, US-Iran (Operation Epic Fury), South China Sea disputes, Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia — had clearly crossed into a new and historically unprecedented phase of interconnected global aggression.
We call it "War 3.0" — not "World War 3" — deliberately. Historians who documented the first two World Wars did so only in retrospect. We are living through a period of escalating, linked armed conflicts that may — if not checked — be recorded by future historians as the third global war. Our mission is to ensure that does not happen. The first step toward peace is radical transparency about the cost and spread of aggression.
WAR 3.0 only tracks incidents linked to or contributing to the War 3.0 designation — interconnected conflicts, proxy wars, military escalations, and geopolitical crises that form the fabric of this era. Isolated criminal events or purely domestic disputes outside this context are not included. Every event on this platform is part of a larger, dangerous pattern that demands your attention.
What legally and academically constitutes a "war" is a surprisingly contested question — and the answer has profound real-world consequences for international law, humanitarian aid, and history. Here is how leading authorities define it:
"A state of usually open and declared armed hostile conflict between states or nations; a period of such armed conflict."
"An international armed conflict (IAC) exists when there is a resort to armed force between two or more States. The WAR 3.0 Standard: We apply a combined threshold — sustained armed violence between organized parties producing measurable casualties, displacement, or strategic territorial effect — to classify events as part of the War 3.0 designation. This captures the full spectrum of modern conflict, from conventional warfare to hybrid warfare, proxy conflicts, and strategic military campaigns short of formal declaration.
Wars grow in the darkness of public ignorance. When citizens cannot see the true scope of global aggression, political will to stop it atrophies. WAR 3.0 exists to keep the light on — to make the invisible visible, the distant feel immediate, and the abstract feel human.

A note on our name: We call it "War 3.0" because we are still writing this chapter. Future historians may indeed call this period World War 3 — if we are not vitally careful and collectively deliberate about demanding peace.
